Machine Learning to Deep Learning
Google recently acquired a company called DeepMind, with focus on Deep Learning. The focus of the company, as stated by the DeepMind founder (a neuroscientist and former teenage chess prodigy), is about “Combining the best techniques from machine learning and systems neuroscience to build powerful general-purpose learning algorithms”.
If you are thinking of learning Analytics or Machine Learning, here is an opportunity to up the Ante. If you aren’t already inspired enough to become the new age “Data-Literratti”, or scared enough with the prospect of IPSOft’s Humanoid Amelia, Deep Learning focus gives some additional perspectives.
“Deep learning comes from the notion that as humans we have multiple types of representation–with simpler features at the lower levels and high-level abstractions built on top of that. By representing information in this more abstract way, the machine can generalize more easily.” Read more on the emerging focus as well as the gogle investment in this Fast COmpany article at the link here http://www.fastcolabs.com/3026423/why-google-is-investing-in-deep-learning
