Information_Excellence_Picture1A group of Information Excellence Professionals, having experienced and enjoyed being part of the Information Excellence Group Community in Bangalore and having relocated to Pune Now, are taking the first steps towards the direction of having a Pune Chapter of the Information Excellence Group.

As a first step, the team is arranging a meetup within their company, being hosted by CDK Global, on Saturday 12.March.2016 @ 10:30hrs to 14:00hrs.

Dr Bharatheesh is the CTO at Abiba Technologies, Driving Data Science driven solutions for the Telecom and Retail industries. His expertise spanning Data, Analytics and Business Solutions is valued by Abiba customers worldwide.

Deep learning machines are reincarnated versions of previous machine learning avatars like neural networks and fuzzy systems. What separates them from machine learning 1.0 is their ability to create features on their own instead of handcrafted features as in other algorithms. There are different flavors of deep learning from deep learning networks to auto encoders to deep unsupervised approaches. This talk from Dr. Bharatheesh will shed some light on the origins of deep learning, different approaches currently used and applications of deep learning in variety of domains (visual, sound, text and time series), along with tools that can be used for embedding DLMs in your applications.

 From Data to Outcomes (Sumit Dhar)

The current topic focuses in the area of online experience management using data science to manage client outcomes in a B2B SaaS space. The speaker uses his company’s value proposition as a broad theme to talk about driving business outcomes using data and cutting edge data science concepts.

The talk mainly focuses on anticipating web visitor behaviour or intent to drive differentiated treatment provides enhanced experience to visitors while driving revenues for our clients. While bringing out the unique value proposition Data Science brings to business, the speaker also touches upon the challenges a practitioner faces and the uncertainties a business manager has to manage while executing in scale in this niche paradigm.

The talk touches upon topics such as algorithms, Big Data systems, outcomes management and finally data science as a group in an engineering company.

Data Science case study in Goldman Sachs Technology Division  (Vaidyanathan Balasubramanian)

 Goldman Sachs Technology Division consists of a massive infrastructure setup (physical hardware and applications) all of which are constantly monitored and maintained by various specialist support teams. Our focus is on keeping risk to a minimum while still driving efficiencies that allows us to manage the plant. We will share a case study that applies data science techniques to achieve this objective in our technology division.

Analytics in Sports and Entertainment (IPL) ( Himanshu Gugnani)

Description : SAP was the technology partner for KKR during the IPL 2014 season. SAP developed 2 solutions, namely , SAP Auction Analytics and SAP game Analytics which helped KKR build a team and then during the tournament itself perform better.

The solution was entirely built on the HANA platform and extensively used the predictive analytics capabilities. From finding out which player performs well in which position to figuring out the ways to getting a player out, the solution was filled with unique features which were possible only because of the SAP HANA platform. KKR was the champion for IPL 2014.

Sumit DharSumit is the Vice President & Head of Client Analytics & Data Science (CADS) in 247 iLabs in Bangalore. Sumit has more than 15 years of experience in Informatics, Visualization and Predictive Analytics.

He started out building Analytical Appliances in the CRM space but has diversified into business analytics and delivering actionable insights.

His current interest is in adopting machine leaning and new Big Data components in driving customer outcomes.

Sumit has served as Vice President for CRM Analytics in GE and Vice President of Decision analytics in EXL Service. He has a B.Tech (Honors) from IIT Kharagpur and a M.S from the Penn State University in the USA.

 

Vaidyanathan Balasubramanian:

Vaidyanathan GSVaidyanathan is a Vice President in the Goldman Sachs Technology Division. He currently works as a data and business Analyst. He has close to 12 years of experience in various capacities as a Technical Support Manager, Account Manager and Program Manager and worked in companies such as Wipro, Symantec, Hewlett Packard in the past.

 

He comes with over 10 years of experience with prior stints in HP, Yodlee, Symantec and Wipro. He specializes in Customer Engagement, SLA Delivery, Team Management,

 

Himanshu Gugnani:

Himanshu_gugnani1Himanshu works as Program Manager for Managing director’s office of SAP Labs India. He is Innovation Lead for SAP Labs in India and works on focused solutions for Indian market.

Himanshu has been working with SAP for more than 8 years now, he is a Business consulting executive with  comprehensive experience in Market Strategy, Program Management and Development, Heading Teams, Delivering Products. Expertise in initiating and driving companywide strategic programs, managing project schedules, measuring outcomes and managing customers.

Currently working with SAP Labs India as Program Manager, Strategic Programs to drive programs that help launch products from the Labs R&D center to the market.

During his 24+ years of overall industry experience, Venu worked earlier with Flytxt Pvt.Ltd, Cognizant(USA&India), Oracle(USA), Emirates Airlines (Dubai, UAE), Tata Unisys Ltd., and Patni Computers in various capacities as Group Manager/Director, Project/Delivery/Program Manaager, Senior Principal Consultant, Lead Analyst etc. for software services & implementation, product development and Technology management related actvities.

Ravindranath Shenoy:

Ravindranath ShenoyRavindranath Shenoy is a seasoned business intelligence architect with strong experience in analytics and building analytics based solutions. He has contributed in different capacities ranging from BI Solution architect, Analyst and consultant.

Ravi is currently the Senior Manager with GENPACT, leading solution conceptualization and delivery on its customer engagements. He has previously been with Hansa Cequity, Sapient, Nucleus Software building Analytical and BI Solutions and Roadmap.

Ravi is also an avid historian with keen passion about Mughal History and Historical places. He is also a regular in the Marathons in the country.

Meenal Ashtikar:

Meenal AshtikarMeenal heads the Customer Insights and Analytics team at Acrotrend.  She has over 15 years of IT experience delivering excellent results for multiple FTSE clients. She is engaged in helping their clients’ Sales, Marketing and Customer Service functions  apply Customer Insights and Analytics(CIA), BI, Data Discovery technologies and concepts to realize business value from their customer acquisition, retention and profitability programmes.

Session details:

Abstract: Imaging is considered to be one of the most rapidly evolving areas of information technology today, with growing applications in all areas. Image processing are tools and techniques to extract information from digital images for automated analysis and decision making. It is among rapidly growing technologies today, with its applications in various aspects of a business. Image Processing forms core research area within engineering and computer science disciplines too. Image processing has a lot of applications in Automotive, Medical Diagnostic Imaging, Digital pathology, Consumer services, security and surveillance, robotics/ industrial vision, home security, Defense/ aerospace, semiconductor, etc. However Commercial application of Image processing as a product is emerging in areas such as Automotive Driver assistance system, Security & surveillance, Machine vision, Mobile Image applications, medical imaging diagnosis and other area of imaging research as accelerator is in progress on many areas. Improvement in sensor technology, reducing sensor cost and increase in the processing power has dramatically improved and increased the imaging applications. A vivid describition of image processing applications and forethought on future research is also discussed.

Emerging State of BI and its implications

The BI today is changing rapidly from the BI of the last decade, with many changes. There is a huge gap in translating the BI of yesterday (ETL and Reporting) to the BI that is demanded of (Help me decide).

This session discussed the State and need of Emerging BI interactively with the participants; moderated by Information Excellence Volunteer Team.
